No, you don’t need to have a Time of Use (ToU) tariff to benefit from the equiwatt app. Your EV can still participate in equivents and earn you points by pausing its charging when demand on the grid is high.
PLEASE NOTE: You will need to connect your smart meter to the equiwatt app to be able to earn points for participating in equivents.
In the future, you will also be able to schedule your charging based on the carbon intensity of the Uk’s electricity generation.
